PRECISION ROAST / SELECTION/SMALL SCALE

WHETHER YOU NEED A RANGERA LITTLE ROASTERY

The purchase is not justified by the status of production, but by a repetitive task, a measurable risk, and an advantage over manual control or an external service.

Small volume does not eliminate the risk of impurities and defects, but rarely justifies automation on its own. First measure the problem at the inlet and after roasting, check the capabilities of the raw material supplier and alternative methods, then compare your car with labor, contract, losses and site requirements.

Don’t buy a growth sorter: formulate a repeatable task and a threshold after which your own control gives a verifiable operational result.

  1. 01

log defects and incidents by batch

  2. 02

Separate the task of green coffee from control after roasting

  3. 03

Evaluate manual control and adjustment of raw material requirements

  4. 04

receive an offer for an external sorting service

  5. 05

calculate a suitable product that mistakenly goes off

  6. 06

check the area, noise, air, aspiration and work of the operator

  7. 07

agree on the pilot test before the capital purchase

From Initial Data to Verified Results

Each stage preserves the boundary between the revealed fact, the editorial method and what still needs to be confirmed.

01

Measure the frequency and consequences of the problem

Collect data on incoming shipments, complaints, stops, and manual selections. Separate a rare single incident, a systemic delivery defect, and a premium product requirement. Without the frequency and cost of consequences, you can't compare solutions.

  • type and number
  • time and loss
02

Check out simpler measures

Some problems are solved by the specification of green coffee, input control, magnet, sieve, aspiration, destoner or improving the lighting of the hand desk, which are not interchangeable, but can cover a specific risk with less complexity.

03

Compare ownership, contracting and manual labor

The cost of your own car includes delivery, installation, compressor or aspiration, area, training, cleaning, maintenance and loss of a suitable product. For a contract, add logistics, minimum batch, term and traceability. Manual control is estimated by actual time and reproducibility.

Check Compatibility with Small Stream

A large machine can require a minimal stable flow and create a disproportionately long cleanup between small SKUs. On the test, check the start, residue, setup time and quality on a typical, not just maximum batch.

  • start-up time
05

Determine the rule for reviewing the decision

If the purchase is not warranted, fix the trigger: the increase in volume, the frequency of the defect, the cost of manual labor or the requirements of the client, so that the decision is returned to the data, rather than being postponed indefinitely or taken under the impression of a demonstration.

Before testing or requesting the supplier

Short answers retain the same limitations as the main material.

01How much do you need a color sorter?

There is no universal threshold. The solution depends on the frequency and cost of the defect, the customer's requirements, alternatives, the minimum workflow of the machine and the total cost of ownership.

02Is it possible to sort only manually?

For some small streams, manual control may suffice if there is lighting, benchmarks, training, and verifiable sampling; it is limited by speed, fatigue, and the visibility of specific defects.

03Is it better to sort green or roasted coffee?

These are different checkpoints. The choice depends on the defect and the risk: the problem of the raw material is usually looked for before roasting, and the differences that arise or are noticeable after the process after stable cooling.

04Will an outside contract help test the idea?

Yes, if the contractor discloses the protocol, retains the identity of the batch, and returns all streams for material balance, the result of one prepared batch does not replace repeatability testing.

Check where the control will go

Collect a real stream of small roastery and find the task location before selecting the machine.
